CHAMPIONS LEAGUE ᄄC Round of 16: Olympiakos upset hapless Man Utd

Greek champions Olympiakos have caused a Champions League upset by beating Manchester United 2-0 in Athens.

Goals either side of half-time from Alejandro Dominguez and Arsenal loanee Joel Campbell gave Michelᄀᆵs Thrylos a dramatic victory at the Karaiskakis Stadium in Piraeus.

The opening goal came in the 38th minute when Argentine midfielder Dominguez cleverly deflected Giannias Maniatisᄀᆵ speculative effort past United keeper David de Gea with a cheeky backheel.

Ten minutes into the second half and the home side were two to the good when Campbell, who is on a season-long loan from the Gunners, continued his recent impressive form when nutmegging Michael Carrick 30 yards out before bending a sublime curling attempt into the back of the net after advancing forward.

United were never able to really settle into a rhythm and had very few scoring chances in what was a great night for Greek football in the port city of the countryᄀᆵs capital.

Robin van Persie had the chance to pull one back late for the visiting Red Devils but he fired over the target, leaving David Moyesᄀᆵ side with it all to do in the return bout at Old Trafford on March 19.
