Lennon buzzing as Scotland v Republic of Ireland gets set to bring former Celtic bosses together

Current Celtic manager Neil Lennon is eagerly anticipating this yearᄀᆵs Euro2016 qualifier between Scotland and the Republic of Ireland.

Gordon Strachanᄀᆵs Scotland host Martin OᄀᆵNeillᄀᆵs Irish side in Group D qualifying for the France tournament in September this year and Lennon is full of excitement.

The Hoops boss counts on the duo for advice and has plenty of respect for the experienced pair who have won six Scottish league titles, four Scottish Cups and three Scottish League Cups between them.

Lennon spoke highly of both Strachan and OᄀᆵNeill in the wake of the Euro qualifying draw which was held in Nice on Sunday.

ᄀᄚMartin had a huge influence on my career and I will always be indebted to him. In the last stages of my career, Gordon had a huge influence on me as well,ᄀᄆ he told the Daily Record.

ᄀᄚBoth are different in their approaches but I have tremendous respect for them. They are brilliant men and managers.

ᄀᄚMartin knows the game and studies it. He is very mentally strong.

ᄀᄚI owe Gordon a lot as well. He was good enough to ask me to come back to Celtic.

ᄀᄚI was there for a year and a bit under him and I learned a lot from how he approached games and training.

ᄀᄚTheyᄀᆵre probably the only two men I can call for advice because they are the two who know better than anyone how to handle the job and what you are going to confront.

ᄀᄚThey are always just a phone call away. They are pleased for me with the way things have gone.

ᄀᄚThey should take something from it because theyᄀᆵve had a huge influence on my career.ᄀᄆ

OᄀᆵNeill managed the Hoops between 2000 and 2005 before Strachan took the Parkhead reigns from 2005 until 2009.

Lennon played under both men during his career, winning three league titles with OᄀᆵNeill and two with Strachan, three Scottish Cups with OᄀᆵNeill and one with Strachan and a Scottish League Cup apiece.
