Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil could miss England’s friendly with Germany next Tuesday.

German boss Joachim Low is only planning to use Ozil in one of their two prestige friendlies over the next week, and are hopeful it will be Friday’s match against Italy.

Ozil complained of feeling ill after the Manchester United game at the weekend and the fear is he contracted the same bug which ruled his club and country teammate Per Mertesacker out of Old Trafford. Tomas Rosicky also missed .

The £42million superstar was therefore given extra time before reporting to Germany training and could now miss the Italy game – which may affect plans to rest him whrn they take on at Wembley.

It is understood Low is aware that Ozil has been left jaded and tired after the last few months, following his record move from Real Madrid and also the adaptation process to life in England and Premier League football.

Germany’s medical staff have been in touch and do not want to see him suffer burnout, while Arsenal would encourage the idea of him getting an extended a break before they play in-form Southampton on Saturday week.
